The Company: FreshConcept is a Belgian pork butchery distributing packaged fresh meat through super- and hypermarkets since 2002. Clients include Carrefour, Mestdagh, Intermarché, Cora, Louis Delhaize, Match and Spar. The Charleroi-based company employs 150 people.
The Business Challenge: FreshConcept wanted to take part in a Carrefour-led project that aims to have the full cycle ‘order - production - in shop delivery - invoice’ for fresh products in one single day. Carrefour requested very tight deadlines to be part of the first batch of partner companies. This required adaptations to internal processes, including the development of electronic exchanges (EDI) for orders and invoices.
The Solution: FreshConcept partnered with Babelgom to develop, deploy and test electronic order and invoice exchanges in just 3 weeks. The solution using Babelgom complied with Carrefour guidelines for EDIFACT messages via the AS/2 protocol. Changes within the IT environment of FreshConcept could be kept very limited while enjoying a fully automated solution end-to-end.

The Company: an important retailer with over 500 sales outlets in Belgium.
The Business Challenge: the company runs electronic document exchanges with a large amount of suppliers. The company diagnosed that the current technical platform could not satisfy the needs of the expected growth of the electronic traffic. The company reviewed various options to better control their EDI exchanges with suppliers.
The Solution: Babelgom originally stood as an outsider. The company decided to launch a pilot project with a single supplier while keeping all options open. Over time, the use of Babelgom was extended to several suppliers. The company is now progressively migrating its EDI exchanges towards Babelgom. The use of the SaaS solution of Babelgom allows to avoid important capital expenditures that would have been necessary with alternatives.
Key Benefits: the company gained in control and flexibility for the various requests for automated electronic exchanges. One of the most important benefits has been the deployment of new electronic exchanges without disrupting other IT projects and without any changes to the internal IT environment. Only one single month was necessary between the beginning of the collaboration with Babelgom and the first flows in production environment.
Technical data: Protocols used for this case were AS/2 and FTP. Message formats were EDIFACT and fixed length flat files. The use of additional protocols and formats are possible in the future.

InternetVista uses Babelgom to automate payment file exchanges between its internal invoicing application and the accounting application of its external accounting service provider.

In January 2008, eBay asked Babelgom to build an automatic channel between the eBay website and a key customer's internal application. eBay required exchanges to be based on its SOAP interfaces in conformance with strict security guidelines. The customer had already developed an exchange process using batch FTP upload of XML files with other business partners. Using Babelgom, each partner could stick to their own technical requirements and preferences, minimising adaptations to their respective environment.
Fund-X S.A. is a Luxembourg-based company. The company offers specialised expense management services to Investment Fund companies. From consulting to the full outsourcing of investment fund expenses monitoring, control and benchmarking, Fund-X offers a range of solutions that match industry needs for increased accuracy and transparency.
Fund-X receives detailed daily financial data reports from their customers. These reports are generally in Excel or text formats. The data is captured in Fund-X internal applications for processing and analysis. Thanks to Babelgom, incoming reports are automatically re-formatted for automatic import into the Fund-X application.
